The average pet owner can expect to spend between $30 and $90 for one standard grooming session. That’s pretty steep, considering how quickly dogs get dirty – but in recent years pet owners have actually been spending more on grooming, not less. The 2017-2018 American Pet Products Association (APPA) National Pet Owners Survey estimates a dog owner spending increase of $23 since 2013-2014. This is likely because owners are recognizing the benefits of proper grooming extend far past aesthetics – a preened pooch is easier to check for ticks/fleas/skin problems, and frequent brushing distributes the natural oils that encourage a healthier coat.
