Cuppa & Kittens: Inside 5 Cool Cat Cafés
Cat cafés. Never heard of ‘em? Totally intrigued? Want to visit one, like, yesterday? You’re not alone!
The very first of its kind, Cat Flower Garden, opened its doors in Taiwan in 1998. The concept took off – obviously, because who wouldn’t want some kitty love with their latte? – and now spots like it can be found all over the world. Here are some of our favorites!
- Brooklyn Cat Café in Brooklyn, New York
This cozy corner of Brooklyn offers round-the-clock cuddle time via Kitten Cam (check it out here for your daily dose of adorable) and events like Classic “Mew-vie” Nights. Planning to visit? This place is popular, so reservations are recommended. Bonus: Cats are up for adoption! - Catmosphere Café in Sydney, Australia
The name alone snags this café brownie points in our book – as does the fact that they offer regular movie nights, yoga classes and the opportunity to sponsor a cat. - KitTea in San Francisco, California
This stylish space in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley features a wooden obstacle course, bagels
and Bicycle Coffee, and – of course – 16-20 furry friends. If you can’t make it to SF, check out its Instagram (self-proclaimed as “the punniest meowt there”). - Cat Café Coffee Shop Budapest in Budapest, Hungary
Searching for an excuse to visit this trendy city? Look no further! Recently renamed and relocated minutes from the beautiful Vajdahunyad Castle, price of entry gets you cake, board games, and unlimited beverages. - Le Café des Chats in Paris, France
When you spend a day at Le Café des Chats, you can rest easy knowing that 1) you hit your snuggle quota for the day, and 2) a percentage of your payment will go toward feline protection and a retirement fund for each cat. Also, fun fact: founder Margaux Gandelon raised €35,574 for Le Café’s launch via Crowdfunding.
