Medium H-Section length is 10 ¾”
Extra Large H-Section length is 14 ¼”
To determine the correct size door, simply measure the width (A) and height (B) of your pet.
(A) Measure the widest point of your pet's shoulder.
(B) Measure from the top of your pet's back (just behind their head) to the bottom of chest.
Pet door models have different size openings. Just make sure your new pet door's opening is both wider and taller than your pet's measurements to ensure they can comfortably pass through.

not quite what i was expecting
So I purchased one of your doors second hand at a yard sale, but it was missing the to piece. I was grateful to find I could purchase parts online, even though my hubby was ready to build something to retrofit the door. However, I guess I was expecting something that would fit a little more snug? This H channel leaves a lot of wiggle space and I am constantly adjusting my door. Maybe I ordered the wrong part, but they all looked the same when I checked each doors parts list. IDK, we'll make it work.

too short
A 14.5" section for a 17.5" inch wide door?? make at least 16-16.5".Doesnt make sense. too short for XL
I bought the XL for my XL door but it is too short. I'm @an inch off and leaves a gap, which doesn't male in very weather proof in NE winters. I wish they made an ez door with the flap of VIP. I'd be a happy camper

not the same size.
The H channel that came with the door fit perfectly and no spacers to install the door. I had to purchase and extra H channel to extend the top of the frame so the door would fit. This H channel was 3/16" longer than the original which in turn had to add spacers to the side of the door for it to fit correctly. I also had to use insulation in the H channel then calking the sides since there was a gap due to the original H channel was 3/16" sorter than the extra sent.
